How FaxOnWeb protects your fax documents
See how FaxOnWeb protects fax documents with TLS, AES-256-GCM encryption, isolated processing files, controlled retention, and PayPal payments.
Security and privacy
Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest, processed through isolated short-lived files, and retained only as needed to reach a final delivery outcome.
Protection across the fax lifecycle
Fax documents move through upload, validation, transmission, delivery confirmation, and deletion. Each stage uses controls intended to limit exposure while preserving the copy needed to complete or recover the delivery workflow.
Document and payment controls
- TLS in transit
- Connections used to upload documents and communicate with the service are protected with TLS while data travels over the network.
- AES-256-GCM at rest
- Stored fax documents are encrypted with AES-256-GCM so the retained file is not kept as readable plaintext.
- Isolated short-lived processing files
- Validation and fax transmission use isolated temporary processing files. An encrypted durable copy is kept while the system waits for the final delivery status.
- Deletion after the final outcome
- Deletion is attempted after confirmed delivery. For a final failure, deletion is attempted no later than 7 days after upload. Failed deletion operations are retried.
- PayPal payment handling
- Payments are authorized and processed through PayPal. FaxOnWeb does not directly store your card details.
Security scope
These controls describe the service's technical handling of documents and payments. They are not a claim of absolute security or certification under HIPAA, GDPR, or another regulatory framework; users with specific compliance duties should assess their own requirements.
