What your fax delivery status means

Understand accepted, pending, delivered, busy, no answer, and failed fax statuses, plus one free retry when eligible and PayPal capture or refund handling.

Fax delivery status guide

A provider accepting a fax job is not the same as delivery. The result remains pending until the receiving fax service confirms success or failure.

Accepted is not delivered

After submission, the fax provider may accept the job for processing. FaxOnWeb waits for the recipient-side delivery result before treating the fax as delivered and before capturing the authorized payment.

Status and payment timeline

Accepted by provider
The provider has received the job and may be dialing or processing it. This is an intermediate state, not proof that the recipient received the fax.
Delivered
The receiving fax service has confirmed successful delivery. FaxOnWeb can then finalize the result and capture the PayPal authorization.
Busy
The recipient's fax line was occupied during the attempt. If this is the first eligible failure, FaxOnWeb may offer one retry without another payment.
No answer
The destination did not answer as a fax endpoint within the attempt window. Check the number and whether the receiving fax is available before retrying.
Failed
The provider could not confirm delivery. A final failure ends the send attempt; any unresolved payment recovery remains available for support and reconciliation.
Payment handling
PayPal authorizes the payment before sending, but capture occurs after confirmed delivery. On final failure, FaxOnWeb attempts to void an uncaptured authorization or refund a charge that was already captured.

One free retry when eligible

If the first failure qualifies for a retry, you can resend the same fax once without paying again. A retry is not offered for every failure, so verify the displayed status and destination number first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does accepted mean my fax was delivered?
No. Accepted only means the provider received the job. The fax stays pending until the receiving fax service reports a final delivered or failed result.
Will I be charged if the fax finally fails?
Payment is authorized before sending and captured after confirmed delivery. For a final failure, FaxOnWeb attempts to void an uncaptured authorization or refund an already captured charge. Any unresolved case is kept for support and reconciliation.
Can I retry a busy or unanswered fax for free?
When the first failure is eligible, FaxOnWeb offers one retry without another payment. Review the number and make sure the recipient fax is available before using it.
