PDF-to-fax browser guide
Send a PDF as a fax from your browser
Send a PDF from your browser without a subscription. After confirmed delivery, download an English PDF confirmation with the recipient fax number, page count, Job ID and available FaxOnWeb-recorded UTC times. These are not the provider's actual completion time. Keep the original browser session for access.

Prepare the PDF before checkout
- Open every page
- Confirm that the PDF opens normally and that every page is readable, upright, and in the intended order.
- Remove pages the recipient does not need
- The uploaded document becomes the transmitted fax. Exclude unrelated pages and private information that the recipient did not request.
- Check the upload limits
- FaxOnWeb accepts PDF and common fax image formats up to 50 MB combined. The technical limit is 200 pages, with lower limits for some destinations.
Send the PDF in three checks
- 1. Upload and review the detected pages
- Choose the PDF in the browser and wait for validation to complete before entering payment details.
- 2. Confirm the fax number
- Select the country code and verify the full fax line with the intended recipient. A valid format does not prove ownership of the number.
- 3. Follow the final result
- FaxOnWeb distinguishes provider acceptance from confirmed delivery and keeps final failure visible for payment recovery or support review.
PDF privacy and retention
- Encrypted while retained
- Retained fax files use AES-256-GCM encryption at rest and TLS in transit.
- Temporary processing files
- Validation and transmission use isolated, short-lived processing files that are removed after processing.
- Deletion and reconciliation
- Deletion is attempted after confirmed delivery or final failure. Files still retained after 7 days enter retention reconciliation, and failed deletions are retried.
Questions about this fax workflow
- Can I fax a PDF without printing it first?
- Yes. Select the PDF directly in your browser, enter the destination fax number, and complete the one-time checkout.
- What is the maximum PDF size?
- The combined upload limit is 50 MB. The technical maximum is 200 pages, although some destinations allow fewer pages.
- How do I know the PDF was delivered?
- FaxOnWeb keeps the status pending after provider acceptance and shows success only after the receiving fax service confirms delivery.
- Can I download a dated PDF fax transmission confirmation?
- Yes. After successful delivery, use Download confirmation (PDF, English) on the completion screen to save an English fax transmission confirmation PDF. It includes the recipient fax number, page count, FaxOnWeb Job ID, provider submission ID when available, send process start time, and delivery recorded time (UTC). Both times are recorded by FaxOnWeb in UTC, not the provider's Date Sent or actual completion time; the recorded delivery time may be later. The send process start time for some historical records may be a migrated estimate. Historical or missing fields can appear as Unavailable. Access requires the original browser session with its job access token; a Job ID alone does not provide public lookup. The confirmation does not guarantee the institution's registration, review or acceptance of the documents, or compliance with a filing deadline. No FaxOnWeb account is required; PayPal checkout remains subject to PayPal's account or guest-payment availability.
